In the wake of coronavirus outbreak, the Gautam Buddh Nagar district administration has ordered the employers across Noida and Greater Noida to provide a 28-day paid leave to employers who have either tested positive for coronavirus or to the possibly infected ones being kept in isolation. Persons seeking paid leaves will be required to show medical certificates. "In Gautam Buddh Nagar district, salaries under certain circumstances must be paid to the labours/employees during the Coronavirus Lockdown. Else law will take its own course under the National Disaster Management Act 2005", said District Magistrate Gautam Buddh Nagar, BN Singh.

"All such shops, commercial facilities and factories, which have been closed temporarily because of the order of the state government or the district administration, will provide paid leave to their workers and labourers for the duration of the closure", the DM said in a order.
"Workers and employees who are infected with COVID-19 and kept in isolation for treatment will get 28 days'' paid leave. This will be done only when such patients produce a certificate of treatment to their employers upon being discharged as healthy," Singh added.
The order further stated that the arrangments should be made by employees to dole out the payments to their workers and labourers on March 30 and 31 or April 3 and 4, depending on their situation to make the payment.

The decision comes after the district administration passed an order on Saturday, asking landlords to collect rent from their worker-tenants only after a month. In his order, the DM had said it had come to light that in the present situation of a complete lockdown, migrant workers were forced by landlords to pay the house rent, leaving them with no other choice but to vacate the place.

He also issued the administration’s integrated control room number -- 0120-2544700 -- so that people can report any such incident happening with migrant tenants or non-compliance by landlords.
