New Delhi:
During the rush hour on Friday morning, Delhi Metro services on violet line were not working due to a technical glitch.
However, after a gap of around 30 minutes, the services of the violet line metro has resumed.
Apart from this, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has increased fares as a part of an implementation of the second phase of fare hike. Earlier the base fare was increased from Rs 8 to Rs 10 and the upper limit was increased from Rs 30 to Rs 50.
It is worthy to note that when metro service started the minimum fare was Rs 4 and the maximum was Rs 8.
The revised fare hike in fares be as follows:
Increase in electricity and maintenance charges coupled with salary hike of staff members are the prime reason for the fare hike, said DMRC.
It is learnt that the Metro board of directors had repeatedly turned down the request of the DMRC the proposal to increase the fare.There will be no increase in fare of Airport Express Link.
