Delhi-NCR braces for dust storm, light rain likely

New Delhi:

As temperatures are soaring in North India, Delhiites might be in for some relief with the weatherman forecasting light rains on Monday. The maximum temperature in Delhi and its National Capital Region is expected to hover around 39 degrees Celsius. The weatherman has predicted cloudy sky with possibility of rain, thunderstorm or dust storm for Monday.

The Safdarjung observatory, recording of which is considered the official figure for the city, said the minimum temperature settled at 25 degrees Celsius. The relative humidity recorded at 8.30 am was  63 per cent.

On Sunday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had said that due to the current Western Disturbance and ongoing moisture incursion from the Arabian Sea, rainfall or thunderstorm activity very likely over many parts of northwest India from today. Rainfall or thunderstorm activity also likely to increase over Northeast and peninsular India from today. "Isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Arunachal Pradesh and Assam and Meghalaya during next four days," the weather forecasting agency stated in its report.

On Sunday, the weather continued to remain hot in the national capital, with the maximum temperature settling at 38.5 degrees Celsius, one notch below the season's average, an official said.
