New Delhi:

Reading can be a good experience specially when you are travelling by metro. It can be a real pleasure if you manage to find yourself a seat.

Recently, an anonymous passenger had the most unpleasant experience. Yes! The person was allegedly reading a booklet in Urdu seeing this some co passengers passed rude, discriminatory comments, used foul language belittling the reader. The booklet was about the recently concluded Jashn-e-Rekhta festival which happened to be in Urdu.

This incident may not be taken as an example setter for generalizing the society but it definitely reflects the kind of mindsets people have.

Whats so wrong about reading a booklet in Urdu? And is it necessary that the person who knows to read/write Urdu can only be a Muslim?

No! It could be anybody. This is a question that we need to ask ourselves. Understanding where we are erring and ending bigotry is need of the hour.
