A girl dancing to Sapna Choudhary’s hit song 'teri aakhya ka yo kajal' has led to suspension of three DTC employees. According to latest reports, the incident took place in Delhi’s Janakpuri area, where the girl, who has not been identified so far, made a dance video for her TikTok profile. Dancing to the hit Haryanvi song, the girl shot the video in an empty bus on July 12. Three DTC men including driver and two marshals were suspended. "Driver of the bus has been placed under suspension and it's conductor, who is a contractual employee, has been served show-cause notice for termination. The bus marshal from Civil Defence has been repatriated to his parent department," a DTC official was quoted as saying.
Tik Tok, which was launched in 2019, is a social video app owned by China's Beijing ByteDance Co. It reached the one billion download mark in February. It is a popular app worldwide and was the fourth most downloaded non-game app in 2018.
Meanwhile, the Narendra Modi government on Thursday issued notices to social media platforms Tiktok and Helo along with a set of 21 questions threatening to ban these apps if it does not receive appropriate response, official sources said. The action from Ministry of Electronics and IT (Meity) follows complaint by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh affiliate Swadeshi Jagran Manch (SJM) to the Prime Minister, in which it alleged that the platforms are being used for anti-national activities.
When contacted, Tiktok and Helo in a joint statement said they have plans to invest $1 billion over the period of next three years to develop technology infrastructure and owns responsibility of local community.
TikTok, which has 200 million users in India, was hitting headlines in April this year, when the Madurai bench of Madras High Court had directed the government to ban the mobile application, as it voiced concerns over the "pornographic and inappropriate contents" being made available through such apps. However, the ban was lifted by the Madras High Court three weeks later.
