New Delhi:

It has been 72 hours since the barbaric, masked goons stuck the JNU campus and ran riot terrorising students and thrashing them with rods, sledgehammers and acid! Not a single arrest has been made by the Delhi Police in the case that ahs galvanised campuses across India. While the Crime Branch of the Delhi Police is still ‘looking for clues’, News Nation has accessed the details of the complaint filed by JNUSU president Aishe Ghose, who was grievously injured in the mob attack on January 5. Dated January 7, Ghosh’s police complaint gives chilling details of what happened on the fateful day.

SOS Left At Blue Tick

One of the most astounding factors in the sequence of events that led up to the mob attack is how Delhi Police personnel remained mute spectators, Ghosh has alleged in her complaint. The WhatsApp chats accessed by News Nation show how Ghosh had sent SOS messages to senior police officials at around 3 pm about some students gathering at a T-point inside the JNU campus. While it is clear that both the officers concerned had read the messages, the silence on their part shows they simply ignored the call of help.

In the message that was left at blue tick, Aishe Ghosh had asked senior police officers Sanjeev Mandal and Special CP Anand Mohan to take urgent notice of some armed students gathering inside the campus. “Sir, This is to bring to your notice, large number of students have gathered with weapons and sticks at the Administrative Block, near the statue which is within 100 metres and beating up the students of the University. We request you to urgently take immediate action to remove these students and take immediate action for violating Hon’ble High Court order of Delhi High Court,” Aishe Ghosh’s WhatsApp message to the senior police officials said.

Masked mob and three hours of terror

What followed was one of the most unprecedented and dastardly mob attack inside the campus of India’s prestigious central university. It was only at around 7 pm that the police finally entered the JNU campus. Latest reports say that the Crime Branch has recorded statements of over 150 people.

FIR against Aishe Ghosh

It should also be noted that on Tuesday last week, Delhi Police filed an FIR against Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union (JNUSU) president Aishe Ghosh and 19 others for allegedly vandalizing server room of Jawaharlal Nehru University on January 4.

Gosh had claimed that she was specifically targeted. She received at least 15 stitches on the head, and her arm was in a cast after the attack. “I was specifically targeted on Sunday during a peace march on campus. Around 20-25 masked persons disrupted the march and attacked me with iron rods,” the union president, her head swathed in bandages, told news agency PTI after being released from hospital earlier Monday.
