The condition of the female JNU student, who was attacked by a boy with an axe on Wednesday, is critical.

JNU student Akash, 23, had allegedly committed suicide on Wednesday after attempting to kill Roshni, 22, who spurned him.

The boy was taken to the AIIMS Trauma Centre where he was declared brought dead while the girl was admitted to Safdarjung Hospital.

Meanwhile, police on Thursday recovered a letter written by Akash.

Police on Wednesday claimed it to be a case of one-sided love.

According to police both are BA students of the School of Language in JNU. The incident took place in the room number 213 of the university.

After a heated argument Wednesday morning, the boy first hit her multiple times using an axe and then attempted to kill himself by consuming Salphas tablets. He further tried to slit his throat.

Police have recovered knife, a Salphas bottle and the axe used in the crime from the spot. Besides, a country-made pistol has also been recovered from the spot.

Dr BD Athani, medical superintendent of Safdarjung hospital said that the girl has received multiple injuries on scalp.
