New Delhi:
Putting commuters in a stand still state, Delhi authorities on Friday blocked Delhi-Faridabad-Mathura (National Highway 2) road.
People were seen moving towards alternate routes to avoid the massive traffic jam on Mathura road.
To highlight the density of jam here is a calculation which might give a clear idea about the crawling speed of vehicles on the road.
Badarpur Border to Sarita Vihar, total distance of about 5 kms normally takes 10 minutes to cover by a car, but, on Friday the journey lasted for nothing less than 2 hours.
On asking a police official about the reason behind jam, he said vehicles have been stopped due to holy walkers moving towards Yamuna bath for purity of souls.
At certain points high-way was also made one way to help commuters reach their destinations.
They are also demanding a release of water from Hathini dam to purify water in holy river Yamuna.
