New Year's Eve Traffic Restrictions: Avoid These Routes On December 31 In Delhi-NCR

Delhi And Noida Police Have Placed Restrictions In Some Areas, Including Central Delhi's Connaught Place And Noida's Sector 18, In View Of The Celebrations.

New Delhi:

The various police forces in Delhi-NCR have made extensive arrangements for controlling and ensuring smooth flow of traffic during the New Year festivities across the national capital region. Delhi and Noida police have placed restrictions in some areas, including central Delhi's Connaught Place and Noida's Sector 18, in view of the celebrations.

Delhi

In Delhi, no vehicles will be allowed in Connaught Place's inner, middle or outer circles after 8 pm on Tuesday.

"No vehicle shall be allowed to proceed towards Connaught Place beyond (i) R/A Mandi House (ii) R/A Bengali Market (iii) North foot of Ranjit Singh Flyover (iv) Minto Road - DeenDayalUpadhaya Marg crossing (v) Chelmsford Road near Munje Chowk (New Delhi Rly. Station) (vi) R.K. Ashram Marg-Chitragupta Marg Crossing (vii) R/A Gole Market (viii) R/A G.P.O., New Delhi (viii) Patel Chowk (ix) Kasturba Gandhi Road - Ferozshah Road Crossing (x) Jai Singh Road-Bangla Sahib Lane (xi) R/A Windsor place," said the advisory issued by the Delhi traffic police.

The advisory also says parking space near Connaught Place will be available only on a first come first serve basis.

Places which will likely see the presence of a large number of people will have traffic diversions in place by the police, said the advisory.

"Traffic arrangements have also been made at the places having high footfall, including Saket, Greater Kailash, Lajpat Nagar, New Friends Colony, Hauz khas, Defence Colony, Vasant Vihar, R.K. Puram, Nehru Place, Dwarka, Palam Air Port, Rajouri Garden Area, Ashok Vihar Area, Model Town Area, Mayur Vihar Area and Other areas. Necessary traffic diversions as per requirement shall also be done," the advisory says.

Noida

Multiple routes leading to and fro Sector 18, the commercial hub which attracts a large number of visitors on New Years's eve, will remain diverted from 4 pm on Tuesday till 2 am on Wednesday, the Noida Traffic Police said.

Certain sections near the Sector 18 Metro station have been made 'no parking zones' and the police have asked people to avoid violation of the law, according to the advisory.

Police have also requested the people to use the multi-level parking in Sector 18 instead of leaving their cars along the roads.

The Kalindi Kunj road that connects Noida and Delhi will remain out of bounds for commuters for a straight 17th day, the traffic police said on Monday.

"Breath analyser test will be carried out and penalty issued to those driving vehicles after consuming more than 30 milligram of alcohol," the traffic police said.

Gurgaon

In Gurgaon, over 2,000 police personnel will be deployed at 112 points, including inner city malls, crowded markets and border areas on New Year's Eve. Police will also arrange cabs, auto-rickshaws and online cab aggregators for those in need, especially women if they definitely need it to return home. Pubs and bars have been directed to only allow visitors carrying valid identity proof.

Elaborate arrangements have been made for New Year celebrations in view of residents' security especially for women.  Teams of Durga Shakti Rapid Action Force, a special group constituted to prevent crime against women, will also be deployed across the city.

Leisure Valley Ground has been designated as the parking area. Vehicles parked elsewhere are liable to be towed away.

Police will keep a tight vigil at city malls including Sahara Mall, Vipul Agora Building, Cyber Hub, Sector 29, HUDA Ground, Galleria Market, Ambience Mall, Good Earth Mall, among others, Bokan said. Additional police force will be deployed on MG Road, Chakkapur Road and Westin Hotel point. Every vehicle coming from the border areas will be thoroughly checked, he added.

The security measures has come into effect from 3 pm on Tuesday and will continue till midnight.
