New Delhi:

Power connection of Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal's house was on Thursday snapped by Uttar Pradesh Electricity Board officials due to non-payment of bills since March.

However, he himself later re-connected the wire at his house in Girnar apartment in UP's Kaushambi area.

As part of AAP's civil disobedience movement, Kejriwal had announced in March that he will not pay power and water bills because the consumers were allegedly charged inflated sums due to corrupt practices.

"Keeping in solidarity with the people of Delhi, who have been burdened with increased power tariff, I had also stopped paying my bills and was ready to face the consequences," he said in a statement.

Kejriwal said AAP has begun a movement against increased water and power bills in Delhi and alleged that Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit is hand in gloves with electricity discoms due to which tariff has gone up twice in two years.
