New Delhi:

A day after the firing incident at Shaheen Bagh, people held a protest against the ‘women’ staging a sit-in at Shaheen Bagh against the Citizenship Amendment Act, reported ANI. “People hold protest against the women sit-in protest against Citizenship Amendment Act in Shaheen Bagh area,” tweeted ANI. According to reports, South-East DCP Chinmay Biswas is at the spot to oversee law and order situation.

The protesters demanded that the people, who have been sitting on dharna there for over a month to protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act, should clear the stretch as the commuters are facing difficulties, police said.

Meanwhile, a fringe right-wing group has called-off its planned "clearance event". The Hindu Sena claimed that the decision to abandon their plan was taken after they met senior police officials of the area. The outfit claimed that the purpose of the call was to help clear off the roads connecting Delhi to Uttar Pradesh.

"The event has been Called-off after it was brought to our notice that our 29/01/2020 Press release and video were circulated for the purpose of fear-mongering and to fuel riot-like situation by the anti-India elements organizing and supporting the unconstitutional and illegal Shaheen Bagh protest (sic)," the press release stated.

Shaheen Bagh protestors say they won't leave site

Unfazed by the firing incident at Shaheen Bagh on Saturday, protestors said they will continue their stir at the site until the government revokes the amended citizenship law.

A 25-year-old man fired two rounds in the air in the southeast Delhi locality, triggering a panic on Saturday evening. The man was later taken into custody and no one was injured in the incident.

Soon after, more protestors were seen flocking to the site. Some sung the national anthem, while others formed a human chain and offered namaz. The protestors also raised slogans against the Delhi Police. A woman protestor, who didn’t wish to be named, said the incident created a panic among them as well as the children.
