A scuffle broke out today in New Delhi's Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) between members of the All India Students Association (AISA) the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) during a seminar on Article 370.

According to reports, MoS Jitendra Singh was supposed to speak on the 'Abrogation of Article 370, Peace, Stability and development in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh' on Thursday to appraise the students about why the move was important for India.

Left wing students were staging a protest to oppose a lecture programme of Singh but the situation turned unruly after ABVP students staged a counter protest on the campus.

The JNU had organised a talk on "Abrogation of Article 370: Peace, Stability and Development in Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh" in which  Apart from Singh, a senior leader from Jammu and Kashmir, was invited to deliver a lecture around 4 pm at Convention Centre of the university.

To protest against Singh's presence, members of AISA raised slogans against the central government for its August 5 decision to scrap special status of Jammu and Kashmir granted under Article 370.

A section of students raised pro-Kashmir slogans, while ABVP activists countered with "Kashmir se Kanyakumari, Bharat Mata ek Hamari".

Earlier, Union Minister Babul Supriyo was ‘gheraoed’ and heckled by a section of students at Jadavpur University in Kolkata when he went there to attend an event organised by the RSS-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).
