A complaint has been filed against the Shaheen Bagh protests against the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act or CAA. The complaint filed by former Delhi Police ACP Ved Bhushan Sharma alleged that the protest is "illegal" and causing immense inconvenience to commuters who are forced to take alternative routes due to the blockade.
In his complaint, Sharma alleged that he was threatened by the protesters at Shaheen Bagh when he requested them to allow his car to pass through the barricades and demanded registeration of FIR. "They became agitated and refused to remove the barricades fixed on the road. Some of them raised slogans and threatened to kill me," the former cop alleged.
Hundreds of people, led by women, have been demonstrating at the venue, blocking a key road which links Noida to Delhi, for over a month. A major part of the crowd swells between 8 pm and 12 pm when the regular protesters are joined by working professionals and businessmen once they return from work.

The Delhi Police had Friday also appealed to agitators to unblock the Kalindi Kunj-Shaheen Bagh stretch due to which the residents of Delhi and NCR are suffering, officials said.
"We appeal to agitators at Road No 13-A, Shaheen Bagh to understand the sufferings, the complete highway blockade is causing to the residents of Delhi and NCR, senior citizens, emergency patients and school going children," a police statement said.
A petition seeking to remove the protesters was also filed before the Delhi High Court. However, the High Court refused to entertain the plea. The protesters are demanding the Narendra Modi government to revoke the Citizenship Amendment Act which grants Indian Citizenship to non-Muslims from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.
