Tourists should not come to Goa before March 31, state chief minister Pramod Sawant announced on Saturday. He further added that the beaches, restaurants and public places will remain closed till the said date. To check the spread of Covid-19, the state government on Friday imposed, with immediate effect, section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), thereby banning the assembly of four or more people and the organisation of any processions.

Earlier in the day, chief minister Pramod Sawant said the state was contemplating the move. In view of the development, North Goa collector R Menaka and South Goa collector Ajit Roy have prohibited any gathering of four or more people. They have also banned any demonstrations and public meetings on roads and streets. Any person contravening the order shall be punishable under IPC section 188. The order shall remain in force till further orders.
