Man booked for cheating state-run bank in Andhra Pradesh's Krishna district

Hyderabad:

 Krishna district police has booked a man in connection with an alleged bank fraud case. Accused S V Sontosh Kumar, who worked as an appraiser at the Machilipatnam branch of the state-run bank, used toreplace original gold jewellery with fake ones and in this manner cheated the bank to the tunes of Rs 26 lakh, said Robertsonpet police station sub-inspector Habeeb Basha.

"We have registered a case based on the complaint lodged by the branch manager. The fraud was reportedly going on for over a year now, and it came to light yesterday during the checking of records and gold ornaments," he said.

According to the complaint, bank authorities had conducted an internal inquiry and based on its findings, the complaint was lodged.
