Hyderabad:

TRS, BJP and other pro-Telangana organisations have urged Andhra Pradesh Governor E S L Narasimhan to give permission to the 'Chalo Assembly' protest called by the Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC) on Friday in connection with demand for separate statehood.

A delegation of TRS, BJP MLAs and other leaders met the governor at the Raj Bhavan here and sought permission for the protest.

Recalling that permissions were given earlier for such events, TRS leader K Keshav Rao said the protest would be conducted peacefully.

The pro-Telangana MLAs and other leaders earlier also met DGP V Dinesh Reddy and urged him to permit the protest march.

Fearing law and order problems, the state police has denied permission to organise 'Chalo Assembly'.

State BJP president G Kishan Reddy claimed that about 4,000 party activists and leaders have been detained by the police so that they don't reach Hyderabad.

TRS MLA T Harish Rao has also alleged that the state government has unleashed a rein of terror in Telangana to suppress.

Coming down heavily on the state government for its "repressive measures", Telangana JAC Chairman M Kodandaram has said they are seeking permission from the government to organise the protest peacefully and it would be the state government that would be responsible for the developments otherwise, he said.
