Internet and mobile phone services have been suspended in Kashmir Valley as a precautionary measure on 71st Independence Day , officials said.

Only BSNL landline service was functional in the valley.

Earlier, the mobile internet services were restored in the Kashmir Valley on Friday morning. The services were suspended from 10 pm on Thursday fearing deterioration in the law and order situation in view of the first death anniversary of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani this weekend.

Complete internet services, including mobile and broadband, were shut down, an official said on Thursday night. Earlier on Thursday, an order was issued by Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, Munir Ahmad Khan to various lease line internet service providers in the valley to block all social media websites.
