New Delhi:
A massive earthquake jolted parts of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday. The tremors were felt around 04:35 pm. Reports of tremors are also came from New Delhi, Chandigarh, Kashmir as well as several towns in Pakistan, including Islamabad and Khyber Pakhtun region.
"The epicentre was near the India-Pakistan border. The closest big city to the epicentre is Rawalpindi (in Pakistan's Punjab province)," said J L Gautam, head of operations at the NCS.
People rushed out of their homes and offices in panic in several places, including in Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana.

According to IMD, Earthquake of magnitude 6.3 on the Richter Scale hit Pakistan - India (J&K) Border region. However, there has been no report of any loss of life or property from the quake.
Earthquake also jolted several cities in the northern parts of Pakistan - including Islamabad, Peshawar, Rawalpindi and Lahore - on Tuesday afternoon. Pakistan Meteorological Department’s earthquake centre said the quake measured 5.8 on the Richter scale. Its depth was at 10 kilometres.
The quake was powerful and created panic as people ran out of building, eyewitnesses said.
Dunya TV reported that 50 people, including women and children, were shifted to a hospital in Mirpur in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir after a building collapsed following the earthquake.
Several cities including Skardu, Kohat, Charsadda, Kasur, Faisalabad, Gujrat, Sialkot, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Chitral, Malakand, Multan, Shangla, Okara, Nowshera, Attock and Jhang felt the tremor.
