New Delhi:

One person was critically injured in an explosion near Kolkata’s Dum Dum cantonment railway line in West Bengal on Monday morning.

The railway police and security officials were present at the spot. The injured person was taken to a nearby hospital where his condition was said to be critical. The police have recovered 29 more crude bombs from the spot.

The explosion came two days after a live bomb was recovered from an under-construction metro tunnel in Kolkata.

The reason behind the blast was not immediately known and the police were investigating the blast.

The police recovered the stockpile of crude bombs ahead of the West Bengal panchayat polls, which are scheduled to be held in three phases in the first week of May.

The blast occurred amid BJP's allegations of large-scale poll violence by the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) in West Bengal.
