Kolkata:
Traders have said that they do not expect an increase in the retail price above Rs 60-70 per kg in West Bengal, adding, the hike in onion prices has not impacted the state.
"We do not expect any further rise in onion prices in the retail markets from Rs 60 for regular quality and Rs 70 a kg for premium quality. Moreover, we expect prices will begin easing post Diwali," commodity market analyst and adviser to state government Shibu Malakar said.
A onion wholesaler said wholesale price at the Posta market remained at Rs 1,800-2,000 a tonne during the day.
"Only a small quantity of premium onions were sold at Rs 2,300-2,400 a tonne. This variety is selling at Rs 70 a kg in the retail market," the trader said.
Onion prices in Delhi had touched Rs 80 a kg due to lack in supply.
