Veteran Punjabi Singer Gurdas Maan recently cancelled his performance at a Durga Puja event after saw a replica of Golden Temple set up at the venue where he was due to perform. According to reports, the "Ki banu duniya da" hitmaker got irked with it and decided to cancelled his performance terming it ‘unethical encroachment of Sikh morals’.

"The event organisers have created a replica of the Golden Temple with people entering bareheaded and wearing shoes,” Maan said.

"Sadly, even if it ruffles the organisers, I could not have done this as it's completely against my personal beliefs in the sanctity of religious places. I'm quite shocked at this violation,” he added.

The singer was due to perform at the Subhash Uddyan venue in South Kolkata locality of Bhowanipore on Sunday. On his way to the venue, he was shown a replica of the Harmandir Sahib. It did not go down well with the Punjabi singer and he refused to perform at the venue.

Maan had recently faced criticism from Punjabis and Punjabi diaspora following his interview on a Canada-based Punjabi radio where he supported the ‘one nation, one language’ idea.
