New Delhi:
Sharpshooter Sunil Sharma was killed in an encounter with the police in Gomti Nagar area of Lucknow on Friday morning.
Sunil had escaped from police custody a month ago while being produced to a court. He was an accused in the murder of Pappu Pandey.
There are also reports claiming that he was running an extortion racket from jail and his encounter is being touted as a big achievement of Lucknow Police.Â
Due to increasing incidents of crime in the state, UP police is on a spree of encounters of dreaded and most wanted criminals.
Earlier last month, two wanted criminals were killed in police encounter in Shamli. In the incident, five police personnel were also injured.
