Lucknow:

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday distributed 2590 laptops among students in Lucknow University under the state government sponsored scheme.

The CM was accompanied by Cabinet Minister Pawan Pandey. Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav said that the state government had embarked on this programme in the face of great opposition. "The youth helped us in removing an autocratic government from the state. These laptops will help fetch youngsters good jobs", he added.

However, former CM Mayawati slammed the Samajwadi Party government saying that the laptop distribution scheme is aimed at diverting attention from poor governance.

The Samajwadi Party’s ambitious scheme is currently facing debt and delay in distribution as they still need to pay Rs 900 cr to tech giant Hewlett Packard which has supplied five lakh laptops for the scheme.
