New Delhi:

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi on Sunday took a jibe at the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh over banners and hoardings allegedly featuring the anti-CAA protesters, who have been asked to pay for damage to public property during protests. Priyanka slammed the BJP government saying that the current dispensation has started to consider itself above the Constitution.

“The attitude of the BJP government of Uttar Pradesh is such that the head of the government and the officials, who are following his footsteps, have started considering themselves above the Constitution made by Babasaheb Ambedkar”, PTI quotes Priyanka Gandhi as saying. Priyanka added, “The High Court has told the government that you are not above the Constitution. Your accountability will be fixed.”

Meanwhile, the Allahabad High Court also took the suo moto cognisance of the matter and asked the government if it was not encroaching on personal space and liberty of citizens.

Moreover, banners have been put up in Lucknow with photographs and other information of ‘anti-CAA protesters’ and they have been asked to pay for damage to public property during their protests.
