New Delhi:

The heavy rain that lashed Mumbai on Saturday night caused water-logging and traffic jams in several parts of the city and affected flight operations. Following the pre-monsoon showers three people, including two children, lost their lives due to electrocution in the finance capital of India.

Flight operations at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport were hit with delays in arrivals and departures and diversions of several domestic, international and cargo flights.

Jet Airways announced that due to air traffic congestion following adverse weather conditions, delays of up to 45 minutes in departures and arrivals were expected till 11:30 pm on Saturday. Currently, over 150 passengers of Jet Airways 9W-2314 Mumbai-Ahmedabad are stranded at the Mumbai Airport.

Thunderstorm and strong winds accompanied by rainfall also hit many areas of Thane, Palghar, Raigad and Ratnagiri after dense clouds formed since late afternoon.

The pre-monsoon showers, however, brought the temperature down in the city.
