The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has directed a private hospital to quarantine all its nurses in the hospital after two of their colleagues were tested positive for coronavirus. Sushrusha Hospital in Dadar has also been asked not to admit any new patient. “All nurses of Sushrusha Hospital in Dadar (Mumbai) have been quarantined in the hospital itself after two nurses of the hospital tested positive for COVID-19. BMC has asked the hospital not to admit any new patient and discharge all admitted patients in 48 hours,” the BMC said.
According to a senior BMC official, the decision was taken after two nurses from Sushrusha Hospital in Dadar, aged 27 and 42, were tested positive for coronavirus. “Shushrusha Hospital has also been asked to get all quarantined nurses tested, BMC will take a call on shifting these nurses to some other hospital once their test results come,” the official said.
Earlier, a hospital in Mumbai was declared ‘containment zone’ by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) after at least 29 staff were found coronavirus positive. Among those who were tested positive at the Wockhardt Hospital near Mumbai Central are 3 doctors and 26 nurses.
The staff got infected after two coronavirus positive patients were shifted to the hospital along with two suspected cases from the Kasturba Hospital a fortnight ago. A probe has now been ordered to find an unprecedented hike in the number of COVID-19 cases at the hospital. It will also be proved whether the coronavirus protocols were adhered to or not while dealing with the patients and suspects admitted to the hospital last month.
