People Complain Of Gas Leakage From Different Parts Of Mumbai

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Confirmed The Development But Has Said The Gas Leak Has Been Contained.

Mumbai:

Panic gripped several parts areas of Mumbai after many residents in city's western and eastern suburbs late on Thursday night complained of an unknown smell that quickly sparked rumours of a gas leak at the Rashtriya Chemical Fertiliser's plant in the Chembur suburb. However, the city's civic body Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation and the Trombay division police said that there is no leakage at the fertilizer plant

Engineers are at spots to inspect the situation. 

Twitter user complain of gas leak in various areas like Powai, Ghatkopar, Vile Parle, Goregaon East Powai, Andheri, etc. 

BMC confirmed that the leak has been contained.

“We have intimated Mahanagar Gas Limited and Maharashtra Pollution Control Board to check on finding the cause of increased smell. We are alerting other agencies as well," said the BMC’s disaster.

Rescue operation underway, says report.

"We have recieved complaints from citizens about odour of some unknown gas in eastern and western suburbs. MCGM has mobilized all concerned agencies. 9 fire engines have been mobilized at various places to find out source of leakage. For any queries, please call 1916," BMC tweeted.  

People of Mumbai are complaining of gas leak.

There is no gas leakage at Powai and the gas smell is not related to MGL gas pipelines, says Mahanagar Gas Limited in a statement.
