Maharashtra: Mangala Express gets derailed near Nashik; 5 killed, 10 injured

At least five persons were killed and many were injured when Mangala Express got derailed near Nashik’s Ghoti in Maharshtra, reports said on Friday.

Four bogeys of the Mangala Express got derailed in Ghoti at around 6 am, reports said. The 2618 Nizamuddin-Ernakulam Mangala Express train was passing through the Ghoti-Igatpuri section near Nashik of the Central Railway, a Central Railway spokesperson said.

The injured have been rushed to Ghoti, Kasara and Nashikcivil hospitals.

The train was enroute to Ernakulam from Nizamuddin, New Delhi. The incident took place near Ghoti, about 100 kms from Nashik. Many people are feared trapped under the debris, railway sources said, adding, rescue operation is on.

According to sources, more casualities are feared in the mishap.
