With 57 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) reported on Monday, Maharashtra's total number of confirmed cases have now jumped to 805 in the state. Also, the death count due to COVID-19 rose to 49. With 490 confirmed cases of coronavirus and 34 deaths so far, Mumbai has emerged as coronavirus hotspot not just in Maharashtra but across the country. In total, around 21 Maharashtra districts have so far been affected by the coronavirus outbreak.
According to Mumbai’s health department, Maharashtra recorded 57 new COVID-19 positive cases and 4 deaths in Mumbai today. “Total positive cases in Mumbai are 490 (including 34 deaths) and so far 59 people have been recovered from the COVID-19,” the health department added.

In the meantime, the area surrounding 'Matoshree'- the residence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray - has been sealed due to COVID-19 scare. According to reports, the area was sealed after a coronavirus suspect was detected in the vicinity. It is to be noted that Thackeray and his family including minister Aaditya Thackeray reside in Matoshree.
According to sources, a tea-seller in the area was suspected to have novel coronavirus infection. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has stuck notice regarding the sealing of the area and warned those in violation will be punished.
The death count in India has reached over 109 due to the outbreak of novel coronavirus in the country. According to the latest update, as many as 4067 cases of coronavirus has been reported in India so far.

It is worth mentioning here that the novel coronavirus, which originated in China, has claimed thousands of lives across the world. Over 9.5 lakh people have been infected with the coronavirus across the globe, with the global death toll crossing 46,000. With no known cure so far for the coronavirus, the deadly disease has become a major issue for the entire world.
