New Delhi:

Non-stop rains continued to lash Mumbai on Tuesday, throwing normal life in the city out of gear. Local trains, the ‘lifeline of Mumbai’, were running late by 10-15 minutes due to the waterlogging on tracks.

Schools and colleges in the city remained closed for the second straight day. Mumbai’s Dabbawallahs, the world famous lunch box carriers known for their timely delivery, also cancelled their services on Tuesday in wake of more rain forecast.

Mumbai has been receiving heavy downpour for the last couple of days. Due to the downpour, several areas of the ‘maximum city’ were inundated in knee-deep water. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more rains in the city over the next few days.

"Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely at few places with extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places in the districts of Greater Mumbai, Thane, Raigad and Palghar between 10th to 13th July," the IMD said.
