So you think you can fart? Here's a chance to prove that you have the worst stinkers of all and win a prize for that too. India's first ever farting contest, What The Fart (WTF), is going to be held in Surat of Gujarat. The event is scheduled to take place on September 22. The competition is for people who think they can fart louder, longer and stronger than anyone else, all for being crowned as the ‘Paad-shah'.

There will be a registration fee of Rs.100 for the participants. The fart competition will be held at a local club. The participant who will produce the longest and most melodic fart will take home a trophy and rewards anywhere between Rs 5,000 to Rs 15,000.

Organised by Surat residents Yatin Sangoi and Mul Sanghvi, the competition will aim to find “India’s best Fartists.”

"I farted in the middle of watching a movie with my family and one of them laughed, and said that if there was a contest, I would’ve won. That’s when it hit me that while fart contests happen in countries like China, UK, and the US, and even have a world cup, we don’t have anything like it in India," Sangoi was quoted by VICE.

Sangoi says he wants to ‘noramalise the process’ of farting because it has become too sophisticated many consider it to be gross. He adds that many are even shamed publicly despite the fact that farting is one of the healthiest body functions.

There will be three categories – longest, loudest, and musical. Each participant will have 60 seconds to prove their worth. Among them, three people will be chosen as winners.

The competition will be judged by a stand-up comedian Devang Raval and a local doctor.
