The Patna High Court on Wednesday acquitted all the 26 convicts in the Laxmanpur-Bathe massacre case.

58 persons, including many women and children, were killed in Arwal district 16 years ago. The main accused Dharma Singh was nabbed from a place near Gandhi Maidan in Patna, Arwal.

Armed members of Ranbir Sena, a private militia of upper caste landlords, led by Dharma Singh, killed 58 persons, including 32 women and children, in Lakshmanpur Bathe village of Arwal district on December one, 1997.

Additional District and Sessions court Judge of Patna, Vijay Kumar Mishra had in 2010 awarded death sentence to 16 and life imprisonment to 10 others in the massacre case.
