A 30-year-old businessman has been arrested for allegedly gangraping a girl with his two accomplices in a stationary car near a mall in east Delhi. According to reports, the girl was gangraped after being offered juice laced with sedatives. The incident came to light when a passerby saw the girl crying and informed the police. The police have registered a case of rape against Amit on the complaint of the survivor and are now interrogating him to establish the role and identify his two friends.
"The police reached the spot and arrested the girl's friend. We are investigating the role of Amit's friends in the crime who are at large," Deputy Commissioner of Police Meghna Yadav was quoted as saying by a news agency. During the initial investigation, the police found that the businessman, who is a native of Uttar Pradesh's Baghpat, met the girl through a common friend some two months ago. Amit befriended the girl on promises of helping her to get a home loan at a cheaper rate.
The girl had called Amit for a meeting on Monday. During the meeting, according to the girl's statement, Amit – who was accompanied by two of his friends - gave her juice laced with sedatives. After she fell unconscious, she was gangraped by the accused. On her complaint, the Delhi police has arrested her friend, later identified as Amit. The other two accused are at large and police have formed teams to conduct a search operation.
