A girl committed suicide after being allegedly raped by her father on Saturday in Challiwan Gojarpati Aragam area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district. She died after consuming some poisonous substance at home. “A girl was raped by her father, unable to bear the mental agony she took some poisonous substance after that she was referred to Srinagar hospital where she died during treatment,” an official said.
Police have arrested the accused and an FIR No. 4/2019 has been registered in police station Aragam U/S 306,376,509 RPC and investigations have been initiated to ascertain the motive behind this heinous crime.
On Wednesday, in another incident, a woman was allegedly raped by a staffer of Rashtrapati Bhavan who promised to marry her but later backtracked. In her complaint, the woman alleged that the man allegedly established a physical relationship with her, Deputy Commissioner of Police Madhur Verma said.
A case was registered at North Avenue police station on Tuesday and an investigation was taken up, he said.
The woman has alleged that she was taken to the staff quarters of Rashtrapati Bhavan and raped. However, the DCP denied the claim and said the accused used to live in Kali Bari where the woman often visited him.
