A man allegedly raped his eight-year-old daughter repeatedly over several months after his wife’s death in Gurugram, the police said. Neighbours noticed that the girl was not behaving normally over the past few days. When prodded, the girl, a class 4 student, revealed the torture she was being subjected to by her father in an ebriated state.
The neighbours alerted the police and the man was arrested, ACP (crime) Shamsher Singh said.
"The girl used to stay with her father in Pataudi area. After the death of her mother, her father repeatedly sexually assaulted her over the last couple of months," the police said. "The girl said that she was sexually exploited almost every night after her father got drunk. Last week, the accused father raped the eight-year-old twice," he said.
The man has been booked under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO). The girl has been rescued and sent to children observation centre for counselling, police said.
In a similar case last week, 39-year-old man in Gurugram allegedly raped his 13-year-old daughter after a fight with his wife. The accused, who is on the run, has been booked under Section 6 of the POCSO Act at the DLF 3 police station, according to The Times of India.
The accused is a driver while his wife works as a domestic help. The family hails from Palwal and lives on rent in the DLF 3 area in Gurugram.
"On April 19, he came home in an inebriated state and we had a fight. He hit my head with a bottle, but I escaped with an injury. He went to the terrace in a rage and later asked my daughter to serve him dinner. The next morning, my daughter told me that he had raped her. I confronted him but he ran away," the mother told police.
"I tried calling him multiple times but he did not receive my calls. On Thursday, I called him again but he started threatening me, saying that he will assault our daughter again. So, finally I moved police," the mother said in her complaint.
After a medical examination confirmed rape, she was produced in a city court on Friday for recording her statement under Section 164 of CrPC. In the court, she repeated her claim that her father had raped her.
