New Delhi:
In the early hours of Sunday, a police team arrested as many as 161 men and 31 women from a rave party being held illegally at a farmhouse in Noida.
In a statement, a senior police officer said that the accused were arrested late last night from the venue in Sector 135 where alcohol and other intoxicants were being served illegally.
"We had got an information about such a rave party being held at the farmhouse. A raid was carried out late Saturday night and the information was found true after which 161 men and 31 women were held from the spot," Senior Superintendent of Police, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Vaibhav Krishna told reporters.
"Most of those arrested belong to Delhi, while some are from Haryana and only a few are from Noida," he added. “Five of the key organisers of the event have also been arrested and 31 hookah, 112 beer bottles, 30 liquor bottles which were meant for sale in Delhi, among other items, have been seized from the farmhouse,” the senior officer noted.
"The key organisers have been identified as Amit Tyagi, Pankaj Sharma, Adnan Ahmed, Balesh Kohli, all four from Delhi and Kapil Singh Bhati, from Ghaziabad," Krishna said. A case has been registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code against those arrested and a probe is underway, he concluded.
This comes a day after Anaimalai police nabbed 165 youngsters for using drugs at a rave party hosted at Agri Nest, a resort near Sethumadai near Pollachi in Coimbatore. The police had seized weed, MDMA, cocaine, hashish and banned sedative tablets from the venue. Some of the seized items include 30 gms of ganja, 1 gram of hashish oil, 7 grams of ganja saras and 13.5 grams of MDMA tablets in addition to liquor.
