New Delhi:

He was her confidant, her biggest supporter and on sultry Wednesday afternoon, he killed her. Entire lawyer fraternity at the Agra Court is in state of shock with the gruesome murder of UP Bar Council Chief Darvesh Singh Yadav inside the court’s chambers. Most people are wondering why exactly Manish Babu Sharma committed the crime. Sunny, Yadav’s nephew, in his FIR said that Manish Sharma had threatened to kill his aunty and encroached upon her chamber at the Agra Court. An Indian Express report said that seconds before killing her, Sharma greeted Yadav and said, “Tu jeet gayi (you have won)”.

The Indian Express report added that Sharma and Yadav knew each other for a long time and he was also her senior at Agra College where they both completed their LLM. However, an eyewitness account added that all was not well between them and they had stopped talking to each other for past two months. In fact, they had stopped sitting in the same chamber, the Indian Express report added.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath told Agra’s district magistrate NG Ravi Kumar to immediately determine the reason behind the murder. Originally from UP’s Etah, Darevsh Singh Yadav created history on June 9 when she was elected as first woman chief of Uttar Pradesh Bar Council. Earlier, Yadav was elected as vice president of Bar Council in 2016 and Executive Chairman in 2017. She was elected as a member of the Bar Council for the first time in 2012. She started her career as an advocate in 2004 after completing a Bachelor of Law course from Agra.

Some eye witnesses said the two had heated arguments in senior lawyer Arvind Mishra's chamber, when Manish Sharma lost his cool, pulled out his pistol and fired at Darwesh from point blank range.
