Dr BS Tomar, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad on Saturday late night. The unfortunate incident took place at Doodhia Peepal village in Masuri area of Ghaziabad.
According to the initial media reports, the gunmen came in a Bolero car and a scooty and they fired 5 shots on BS Tomar. Immediately after the incident, the BJP leader was rushed to a hospital in a critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Tomar was attacked when he was at his office.
However, the police investigation revealed that the gunmen were on a two-wheeler. In the meantime, the incident lead to tension in the nearby area including in Dasna, where locals said the incident took place roughly 50 metres from the police station.
Soon after the incident, the authorities suspended Praveen Sharma, SHO of the police station. The case has been registered and the police have started search operation to nab the gunmen.
Commenting on the incident the police said, "The assailants had come on a two-wheeler and fled after committing the crime, leaving their vehicle behind. Search has begun, they will be nabbed soon." “Further details will be revealed after the post-mortem report of the BJP leader,” the police said.
Back in May this year, a BJP worker named Chandan Shaw was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. According to reports, four miscreants on two bike came and stopped him. One of them fired from close range. Shaw was rushed to Bhatpara state general hospital where he was declared brought dead.
