In what could be a Burari-like incident, four of a family, including two children between the age of 5 and 8, were found hanging from ceiling of their house in Karnataka’s Belagavi district, police said on Sunday. The deceased have been identified as 32-year-old Bhimappa Channappagol, his 25-year-old wife and two sons aged eight and five. Channappagol worked as security guard at an ATM, while his wife was a home-maker.
District Superintendent of Police (DSP) Laxman Nimbargi said that they have not found any suicide note from the spot and were yet to find out the exact cause of their deaths. While other angles are also being reviewed, the police are reportedly treating the incident as a "suicide pac".
Hours before the extreme step, Channappagol had brought a cake at around 4 pm on Saturday and had it with entire family, including his mother. Later, his mother went out for some work and found them hanging when she returned, the DSP said.
Earlier this year, ten of the 11 members of a family in Delhi were found hanging from an iron mesh in the ceiling of their house, while the body of 77-year-old Narayan Devi, the head of the family, was lying on the floor in another room of the house. The strange deaths, first-ever kind of a crime scene, has left people in a state of shock.
A day after the mysterious death of 11 family members inside their house in Delhi’s Burari, police investigation revealed “morbid fascination” of the family. According to the police, one of the family members was hallucinating about his dead father and performed the “kriya” on the direction of his soul. The police also said that the family members thought the “soul” will save them.
