In an incident which is sad and gruesome all at once, a 40-year-old man killed his daughters aged six years and 18 months by hanging them and then sent the photo through Whatsapp to his estranged wife. This incident took place in Maharashtra’ s Chandrapur.
The police said the incident happened around 1 am in Ballarpur when ITI teacher Rishikant C Kudupalli killed his daughters and then committed suicide but not before sending the children’s photo to their mother.
As per a complaint lodged by the deceased’s brother, Gopal C Kudupalli, Rishikant was very upset about his wife Pragati’s alleged affair with a local private driver, identified as Shahnawaz Khan.
A few days ago, Pragati had eloped with Khan, leaving behind her husband and their two minor daughters - six-year-old Narayani and 18-month-old Kartiki.
Rishikant was so upset with his wife’s elopement that he hanged both his daughters to death and then killed himself after that.
Their bodies were recovered early this morning by relatives and neighbours who informed the police, said Sunil Kamble, the police officer.
The police have registered a case against Pragati and Khan under several sections of the Indian Penal Code including murder, abetment to suicide, torture and other sections. "They are currently absconding and we have launched a search operation for them," Kamble added.
