Bihar Board Class 10 results were declared shortly and the top spot was secured by Sawan Raj Bharti with a 97.2 per cent marks. Interestingly though all the top 5 spots were secured by one school, Simultala Awasiya Vidyalaya, Jamui. A total of 16 of the 18 top ranks belonged to candidates from this Jamui school

Unfortunately, though no girl secured any position in the top 5 ranks. In 2018,  girls held the top three ranks in the exam and according to reports, they were all from the Simulatala Residential School in Bihar. Of the top 23 students, at least 16 students were from the same school, reports said.

The state topper Sawan Raj Bharti scored 486 marks out of 500 and has scored 97.2 per cent marks. A close second is Rounit Raj who has scored 483 marks resulting in 96.6 per cent. The top three spots are rounded off by Priyanshu Raj who has scored 96.2% marks by scoring 481 out of 500 marks.

Students who held first, second, and third ranks — Sawan, Rounit, and Priyanshu — are eligible to receive cash prizes of Rs 1 lakh, Rs 75,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively. 

The fourth rank is shared by three students who are all from Simultala Awasiya Vidyalaya - Adarsh Ranjan, Aditya Raj, and Praveen. All three have scored 96 per cent i.e 480 marks out of total 500 marks.

The fifth rank is shared by two students - Harsh Kumar and Roshan Kumar - who are both from Simultala Awasiya Vidyalaya and have scored 479 marks and 95.8 per cent marks.

The names of the state board toppers were announced by Bihar Board Chairman Anand Kishor in the press conference held at BSEB Patna office.

The overall pass percentage in the Bihar Board 10th exam this year is 80.73 per cent. Boys have fared better than girls, reports said. In 2019, around 16.6 lakh students have appeared for the Bihar Board Class 10 exams.
