Now, students can apply for scholarships from home, here’s how National Scholarship Portal App works

In its first, the Ministry of Minority Affairs on Thursday launched the National Scholarship Portal Mobile App in the national capital, through which students from across the country can apply for scholarships sitting at home.

Launching the NSP Mobile App at Antyodaya Bhawan, Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said the app would ensure a smooth, accessible and hassle-free scholarship system for students belonging to poor and weaker sections.

Naqvi maintained that the portal would prove beneficial for students ensuring transparent mechanism for the scholarships as all the scholarships were being given directly into bank accounts of needy students under DBT mode, adding about three crore students belonging to poor and weaker sections had benefited from various scholarship programes during the last four years.

“All scholarships are being given directly into bank accounts of needy students under DBT mode through the National Scholarship Portal which has ensured that there is no scope for duplication and leakage. During last about 4 years, record about 3 crore students belonging to poor and weaker sections of Minorities have been benefitted from various scholarship programmes. The beneficiaries include about 1 crore 63 lakh girls,” Naqvi said.

The Minority affairs minister also said that students can upload necessary documents on the mobile app, besides checking the status of their application and scholarship disbursement.

“The students can upload necessary documents on this mobile app; can check the status of their application, scholarship disbursement etc. Students from far-flung areas will be the most benefitted,” Naqvi added.
