New Delhi:

The National Law University (NLU), Odisha is all set to begin the registration process for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2019 from Thursday, January 10, 2019. The varsity will make the link for the registration process available at its official website i.e. clat.ac.in. While candidates can apply online till March 31, 2019, the last date for offline mode of applications is May 12, 2019. The NLU, Odisha is expected to conduct the centralised examination on May 19, 2019, for admission to 21 National Law Universities across India.

Here are the steps to apply for CLAT 2019:

Step 1: Go to the official website, clat.ac.in

Step 2: Click on ‘CLAT 2019 apply’ link

Step 3: Register and fill the form with required details

Step 4: Upload images

Step 5: Make payment

Step 6: Take a print out of the same for future conveniences.

Eligibility Criteria:

Students who have qualified their 10+2 examination or appearing for the qualifying examination in April/May 2019 are eligible to apply for the five-year integrated law degree. Those with LLB degree are allowed to apply for the LLM degree. While the minimum marks requirement for general category candidates is 45 per cent students belonging to SC or ST category will have a relaxation of 5 per cent.

Candidates appearing in CLAT 2019 for postgraduate courses should have cleared their graduate or equivalent with minimum 50 per cent marks. A relaxation of 5 per cent is allowed for SC and ST category candidates.

Keeping in mind the multiple technical glitches during the online examination last year, the Consortium has decided to conduct the CLAT 2019 examination in pen-paper (offline) mode. The decision was taken last year at the 4th meeting of the National Law University (NLU) Consortium in Bengaluru.

In 2018, a total of 54, 450 candidates have appeared for the CLAT on May 13. Post that over 400 candidates were complaining of 10-15 minutes delay due to power cuts, login issues, sudden shutdowns and slow computers. Some of the applicants also demanded re-examination. However, the Supreme Court had directed the varsity to award compensatory marks to students who faced issues due to technical glitches.
