Students from the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT-H) have secured 213 job offers from 80 companies during the phase-I of campus placements for 2018-19. As many as 22 students secured jobs in international companies compared to eight in the last academic year. A total of 418 students registered for the phase-I of placements that were held between December 1 and December 22 this year. The students accepted 17 pre-placement offers from companies such as Amazon, Microsoft, Schlumberger, Qualcomm, Goldman Sachs, Swiggy, Electronic Arts and DeShaw. Two students were also recruited by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in the 2018-19 session.
In 2017-18, the institute had bagged 191 offers from 68 companies. The highest number of offers was rolled out by companies like TCS, Mathworks and L&T constructions that emerged as the top recruiters. Speaking about the phase-I placements, acting faculty-in-charge of placements, IIT-Hyderabad, Amit Acharyya said as quoted by news agency PTI, "I am happy to see the demand for IIT-H students of all levels, be it UG, PG or PhDs, are at its peak. Many Japanese companies have shown interest in our students and more than 10 Japanese companies visited the campus this year.”

Softbank, Toyota Research, TSMC (Taiwan semiconductors), Mercari, Yokogawa Electric Corporation, Barclays and Oppo were some of the first-time recruiters that came for the first phase of placements at IIT Hyderabad. They were joined by the usual recruiters such as Amazon, Flipkart, Samsung, Qualcomm, Maruti, ISRO, TCS, GE and Xilinx.
This year, the placements have been quite fruitful for IITians. With an offer of Rs 1.14 crore for an international profile, IT giant Microsoft emerged as the highest recruiter in the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT-B)’s placement drive this year. Microsoft made a total of 22 offers at IIT Roorkee, of which three are for international roles. Before the final placement session, Microsoft made 9 pre-placement offers to IIT Roorkee students. The highest package offered by Microsoft for a domestic profile was Rs 47 lakh per annum. Microsoft also offered a highest domestic salary of Rs 4.7 million, even as it made a maximum number of 25 and over 20 offers including domestic and international at IIT Madras and IIT Guwahati, among others on day one of the final placements.
