The two students from UP may not land on the moon but will surely witness the much-awaited landing of Chandrayaan 2 on the moon along-with PM Narendra Modi at ISRO control room, Bengaluru. These two students from government schools of UP will be chosen to witness the history Chandrayaan landing on moon next month.
The ISRO Centre’s principal scientific adviser, K. Vijay Raghavan has written a letter to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Anoop Pandey in respect to conduct a quiz for the students. The winners of the Chandrayaan 2 quiz will be chosen to witness Chandrayaan 2 landing on the moon in early September. The Principal Secretary, Secondary Education, Aradhana Shukla has advised officials to distribute and promote the information on various WhatsApp groups at the state schools.
Aradhana Shukla further said, "Children from class 8-12 are eligible to participate. It will be a moment of a lifetime. The success of Chandrayaan-2 has been a proud moment for us and our nation. We will shortlist students after they take part in the quiz."
Aradhana Shukla has also asked the District Inspector of Schools to organize a meeting with principals and explain them about the competition. She has also asked the DIOS to share the link of the competition with the respective schools.
School principals would act as Nodal Officers as they been told to take help from other respective departments to make sure maximum quiz participation.
In order to spread awareness about the space quiz in rural areas, block education officers, development officers and panchayat Raj Officers have been roped in.
