The Haryana Budget 2020-21 was presented with prime focus on education sector. The Haryana Government presented a Rs 1.42 lakh crore budget for 2020-21 where education sector along-with health, security and agriculture sector were majorly taken into consideration. Haryana Chief Minister, Manohar Lal Khattar who also holds the Finance Ministry portfolio presented his first budget in the State Assembly.

While presenting the Haryana Budget, Manohar Lal Khattar said that a total of 1,487 government funded senior secondary schools where science faculty and facility is available will be converted to smart schools by the year 2021. Importantly, the proposal to start Haryana Board Exam for class 8 students was also presented in the budget. The reason behind starting class 8 board exam is to increase the academic and learning strength of students from the academic session 2020-2021.

The budget also included a provision to install CCTV cameras and adopt necessary security measures for 24 hours surveillance in the state colleges. This will be done to provide a safe and secure environment for students to study. Other than this, 5,000 EWS students from the state are going to receive free coaching and old-age homes will be formed in every district of the state.

The scholarship amount will also be increased under the Mukhya Mantri Saksham Chatravriti Yojana for students securing more than 80 percent marks in Class 6, 7 and 8. In addition this, free bicycles will be provided to dalit students of those villages in the state where there are no secondary or senior secondary schools.
