The UGC (University Grant Commission) has issued a letter stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be launching Fit India Movement on August 29, 2019. The prime Minister will launch the movement from Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, New Delhi. The Fit India movement is a nice initiative that will promote fitness and wellness programs. In addition, the movement will help Indians to realize the importance of health and hence strive to keep themselves healthy and active.

In the meantime, higher educational institutes are invited to participate as a part of the Fit India Movement. All the universities and affiliated colleges are invited as they make positive and productive efforts for the well-being and health of their teachers, students, officials and staffs in order to achieve mental and physical strength with 100% emotional balance.

The VCs of Universities and principals of their affiliated colleges are asked to prepare and promote their respective fitness program plans on their official websites and bulletin boards within a month. In addition, universities are requested to upload the fitness plans on UGC’s Fit India Movement portal. The portal is under construction and details will shared as soon as possible. Meanwhile, solid steps are needed to be taken in order to spread the importance of fitness culture across campuses.
