Around 20 passengers on board the Delhi-Bhubaneswar Rajdhani, India’s premier train, were taken ill on Sunday after eating meals served by the railways, sources said. A railway spokesperson said doctors at Gomoh station attended to those taken ill and all of them are stable.
A doctor at Bokaro also attended to the passengers and as a precaution, he is now traveling in the train and checking passengers. "At Tatanagar also doctors will attend. All passengers are well. No one is detrained. Pantry car is also being checked and food samples are collected to investigate the quality of food," the spokesperson said.
The officials of the IRCTC has collected the food samples. The Rajdhani express is one of India’s most luxurious train. Last month, Rajdhani completed its 50 years in service. The Kolkata-New Delhi Rajdhani Express embarked on its maiden journey on March 3, 1969 from Howrah, making it the country's first fully-airconditioned, high-speed train that covered the 1,450 km stretch in 17 hours and 20 minutes.
The iconic train went through stages of evolution over the years and the present Kolkata Rajdhani Express was upgraded with elegant makeover of existing LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) coaches in 2017.
The train is at present composed of 20 LHB coaches consisting of two AC First Class, five AC 2-tier, 10 AC 3-tier with one Pantry Car and 2 Power cars-cum-luggage vans.
