New Delhi:

It’s official! The Gujarat BJP chief’s tweet has confirmed that Amit Shah will be part of the Narendra Modi government. Sources have told News Nation that Shah will be the next Finance Minister. Gujarat BJP chief Jitu Vaghani took to Twitter and congratulated Shah. He also posted two photos of him meeting the BJP president. Shah’s name has been doing rounds since the day of the Lok Sabha Election results were declared. There were difference of opinions with many saying that he should stay with the BJP. Others felt that it was time that Modi’s confidant become part of his cabinet. There is strong buzz that JP Nadda will be next BJP chief.

However, the BJP has not issued any clarification on the topic. It is said that the top leadership of the BJP is of view that the saffron party minus Shah won’t be that strong. Shah’s organisational skills are well-known. From mobilising the grassroot workers to strategising on national front, Shah has transformed the BJP.

It should be noted that Arun Jaitley, the incumbent finance minister in Modi government, had opted out of the ministerial race. He had written to Modi yesterday saying that he doesn’t want to be a minister as he has to devote time for his health concerns.

A lawyer by profession, he has been the most important leader in Modi's Cabinet and has often acted as the chief troubleshooter for the government. As finance minister, Jaitley steered through Parliament major economic legislations such as the Goods and Services Tax (GST), which had languished for nearly two decades.

Jaitley, 66, has also played key role in getting through several other laws such as the bill to ban the Muslim instant divorce practice known as 'triple talaq' and also articulately defended the Rafale fighter jet deal.

Last week, he was admitted to AIIMS last week to undergo tests and treatment for an undisclosed illness and was discharged on Thursday - the day results of Lok Sabha elections were announced.
