Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates on Friday congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his 'remarkable' election victory and praised him for his commitment towards improving lives of many.

"Congratulations @NarendraModi on a remarkable win in #IndianElections2019. Your continued commitment to improve health, nutrition, and development will significantly improve lives of many. @BJP4India," Gates tweeted.

Top leaders and well-known personalities from across the world are sending congratulatory messages to Modi for his second consecutive victory in the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump congratulated Modi saying "great things" are in store for the Indo-US strategic ties under his second innings.

"Congratulations to Prime Minister @NarendraModi and his BJP party on their BIG election victory!," Trump tweeted.

"Great things are in store for the US-India partnership with the return of PM Modi at the helm. I look forward to continuing our important work together!" he said Thursday.

Modi on Thursday led his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to a landmark victory for a second five-year term in office, winning 303 seats in the 543-member Lok Sabha.

The first world leader to congratulate Modi was Sri Lanka Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe as he expressed hope of close co-operation between the two countries. Modi is set to assume the prime minister’s office again when the results of the Lok Sabha elections 2019 will be announced later today. As per early trends, the Narendra Modi-lead NDA in leading in 148 seats, while UPA on 74. Rahul Gandhi is trailing from Amethi. In early trends, BJP is looking to breach Mamata Banerjee's fortress and is leading in 19 seats in West Bengal.
